Museerne på Slotsholmen

The museums of Slotsholmen

The island of Slotsholmen in the heart of Copenhagen is not only the centre of government but also an oasis of unique cultural experiences. No other place in Denmark can present such a dense concentration of museums, offering everything from theatre to Jewish culture, from ruins to new architecture, from art to artillery.

A number of the museums and cultural institutions on Slotsholmen cooperate so as to provide general access to the many cultural treats and recreational joys in the area. This cooperation involves the Danish Jewish Museum, the Royal Library, the Ruins under Christiansborg Palace, the Theatre Museum at the Court Theatre, Thorvaldsen's Museum and the Royal Danish Arsenal Museum.

It is easy to reach the islet in the heart of Copenhagen by bus, metro or harbour bus.
